We are seeking an HR Manager to join our dynamic Team. This position is a great opportunity for an experienced HR Generalist with a passion and expertise for Learning and Development.
Our People are at the heart of everything we do. The HR Manager will deliver the company people strategy which brings together every element of how we work with our people to recruit, induct, train, develop, motivate, engage and retain the best.
You will provide expert professional advice and support to managers and staff on the full range of HR activities. You will develop and implement the company learning and development strategy to increase the capability and productivity of our people focusing on personal and professional development. You will have responsibility for the company L&D budget and programme including delivery of training programmes and sourcing external trainers / courses.
Competencies for success
Candidates MUST have:
• CIPD qualified or equivalent
• Proven track record in the successful design, development and delivery of training programmes. Working knowledge of the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People would be an advantage.
• A passion to learn and develop to improve own performance and that of others to fulfil potential
• Strong communicator, excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and presenting skills
• Proven generalist experience fully conversant with all aspects of employment law and HR best practice and in the development and implementation of employment policies and procedures
• Approachable, tactful and diplomatic with excellent active listening skills
• Aligned to the Albatross culture and values

Major responsibilities
People Strategy
The HR Manager will actively support the People Director in monitoring, developing and deploying the company people strategy that drives business performance through its people. The HR Manager will work closely with Heads of Department and Line Managers to encourage, support and guide them to deliver all elements of the people strategy which includes performance management, job roles, values and people behaviours, personal and professional development, reward and recognition and wellbeing.
Learning and Development
• Develop, implement and continuously improve the company learning and development strategy aligned to the people strategy and business objectives.
• Responsibility for the learning and development programme including delivery of training programmes and sourcing external training providers, courses and e-learning.
• Full budgetary and reporting responsibility for the learning and development budget.
• Follow up individual learning and development needs and in consultation with line managers recommend and source training to fulfil needs identified.
• Organise induction programmes for all new employees.
• Co-ordinate and analyse pre and post course evaluations against objectives.
• Maintain training records for all staff and produce reports to monitor return on investment.
Employee Relations
• Work closely with Heads of Department and line managers, providing them with expert guidance and support on the full range of HR activities (including policies and procedures, terms and conditions of employment, absence management, restructuring of departments, performance management, redundancy planning etc.), in order to ensure a consistent and fair approach to people management throughout the Albatross Group.
• Advise and occasionally manage investigations, disciplinary and grievance matters confidently and competently.
• Provide advice and guidance on individual employee relations cases, ensuring that these are well managed and meet the requirements of the company’s policies, best practice and employment legislation.
• Provide support to staff on HR issues.
• Regular visits to all sites.
HR Policies and procedures
• Manage the recruitment process including creating job adverts, screening applications, communicating with agencies where required and supporting line managers to create job description, person specifications, interviewing and selecting candidates.
• Review and manage new starter and leaver processes.
• Manage maternity leave administration and flexible working requests.
• Keep up to date with legal developments and advise management on such issues.
• Implement and maintain HR policies and procedures to ensure effective, fair and consistent management of staff throughout the organisation, and ensure that the staff handbook is comprehensive and up-to-date.
• Ensure that managers are able to understand and implement policies and procedures and that staff are able to access and understand them effectively.
• Manage health issues and medical referrals.
• Monitor sickness and absence levels using TeamSeer.
• Administer the company pension scheme.
Other
• Manage the information held on the HR Database excel spreadsheet and personnel files to ensure it is updated in a timely and accurate manner.
• Recommend and implement the introduction of a new HR Database across the company.
• Recruitment and Line Management of part time HR Administrator.
• To undertake other tasks including project work as agreed with the People Director.
